A Music Similarity Game Prototype Using the Casimir Api
نویسندگان
چکیده
We present a prototype of ”Spot the Odd Song Out” online game, which collects relative similarity judgements of users on triplets of clips. The game is based on the CASimIR API, which we currently develop, that supports the collection of other annotations the use of different client platforms, as well as the selection of music clips for presentation and user data storage. The API backend is extensible to multiple question types and scenarios and combines data from different applications. The current music database contains clips from MagnaTagATune and the Million Song Dataset . The game front-end is implemented as an HTML5 web application runnable on most of todays’ desktop PCs, tablets and smartphones. A version as a Facebook app is under development. The web application is built on a modular architecture, so that new modules for tasks such as tagging or tempo tapping can be easily integrated into the existing application.

Using MIDI to Modify Video Game Content
This paper discusses the concept of using background music to control video game parameters and thus actions on the screen. Each song selected by the player makes the game look different and behave variedly. The concept is explored by modifying an existing video game and playtesting it with different kinds of MIDI music. Several examples of mapping MIDI parameters to game events are presented. ...
متن کاملTransforming 8-Bit Video Games into Musical Interfaces via Reverse Engineering and Augmentation
Video games and music have influenced each other since the beginning of the consumer video game era. In particular the “chiptune” genre of music uses sounds from 8-bit video games; these sounds have even found their way into contemporary popular music. However, in this genre, game sounds are arranged using conventional musical interfaces, meaning the games themselves (their algorithms, design a...
متن کاملComparative Music Similarity Modelling Using Transfer Learning Across User Groups
We introduce a new application of transfer learning for training and comparing music similarity models based on relative user data: The proposed Relative Information-Theoretic Metric Learning (RITML) algorithm adapts a Mahalanobis distance using an iterative application of the ITML algorithm, thereby extending it to relative similarity data. RITML supports transfer learning by training models w...
متن کاملDynamic Analysis of a Nano-Plate Carrying a Moving Nanoparticle Considering Eelectrostatic and Casimir Forces
This paper reports an analytical method to show the effect of electrostatic and Casimir forces on the pull-in instability and vibration of single nano-plate (SNP) carrying a moving nanoparticle. Governing equations for nonlocal forced vibration of the SNP under a moving nanoparticle considering electrostatic and Casimir forces are derived by using Hamilton’s principle for the case when two ends...
